Bourns Announces Precision DC Digital Current Sensor Series with Wider Current Range and Higher Amperage
Delivering the advantages of digital compatibility, new current sensors feature superior accuracy, stability and electrical isolation
Bourns, Inc., a leading manufacturer and supplier of electronic components for power, protection, and sensing solutions, announced its SSD-1000A Digital Current Sensor Series. Highly integrated and compact, Bourns® new shunt-based current sensors feature a current range from 100 A to 1000 A and offer exceptional accuracy, stability and electrical isolation in a wide -40° C to +115° C operating temperature range. These features are required in a broad range of applications including battery management systems, renewable energy, motor drives, EV charging stations and other designs that are required to operate in certain harsh environments..
The series’ 16-bit Microcontroller Unit (MCU) delivers ±0.1 percent full-scale accuracy that contributes to more efficient use of power. The internal 24-bit Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) provides plug-and-play simplicity, helping to significantly streamline implementation. This enables engineers to quickly add high-accuracy current measurement into their latest designs or retrofit existing ones. There are two SSD-1000A series models: an RS-485 serial interface model, which can also be configured as MODBUS RTU, and a customizable CANbus model. To further help simplify circuit design, Bourns is also offering an internal 120 ohm termination resistor as an optional feature with this new series.
The Bourns® SSD-1000A Digital Current Sensor Series is available now and is RoHS compliant.
